Le dirigeant sortant, qui accueillait vendredi son hôte dans sa résidence pour un déjeûner de travail, s’est présenté sur un ton amical comme le "facilitateur" qui donnera une base parlementaire au futur chef de l’Exécutif ; affirmant placer "l’intérêt d’Haïti" au-dessus de tout, les deux hommes se sont engagés à travailler ensemble en vue de rendre la transition harmonieuse

Les Présidents sortant René Préval et élu Michel Martelly ont eu vendredi, en compagnie du Premier ministre, Jean-Max Bellerive, un déjeûner de travail sur les grands dossiers de l’Etat dans le cadre du propcessus de transition devant culminer avec l’intronisation, dans un mois, de l’ancien chanteur de Compas.

"Nous n’avons plus besoin de divisions, nous voulons que le pays réussisse", a déclaré Préval en soulignant que son successeur ne disposera pas de beaucoup d’élus au Parlement pour faire approuver les éléments de sa politique en fonction du principe de la séparation des pouvoirs.

Dans la foulée, le chef de l’Etat, qui doit partir le 14 mai prochain, a promis à son "vieil ami Michel" de l’aider et de travailler en vue de faciliter une "coopération efficace" entre l’Exécutif et le Législatif.

Avec une majorité de 17 Sénateurs et un groupe de 34 Députés élus, sous réserve de confirmation, la plateforme INITE -dont l’actuel patron est René Préval- devrait être la première force politique au Parlement à l’inauguration de la 49e législature.

Félicitant son futur prédécesseur pour sa décision de l’inviter à cette réunion et l’opportunité qu’il lui a donnée de prendre connaissance de la situation des pouvoirs publics, Michel Martelly note qu’il s’agit d’une "grande première" en Haïti.

Malgré le "changement radical" prôné durant toute sa campagne électorale, il estime avoir besoin des "précieux conseils" de son interlocuteur et aîné en politique pour "éviter les erreurs du passé".

Pendant deux heures d’horloge, les discussions ont porté sur les différents projets en cours, les problèmes auxquels est confronté l’Etat, les faiblesses des institutions, les attentes de la population et la coopération internationale.

"Il s’agit d’un transfert de connaissances et de dossiers qui va se réaliser", a confié M. Martelly à la presse à l’issue de la rencontre qui s’est déroulée dans la résidence de M. Préval à Laboule, dans les hauteurs de Pétion-Ville (banlieue est de Port-au-Prince).

Les épouses des deux Présidents, Elisabeth Débrosse Préval et Sophia Saint-Rémy Martelly, étaient également présentes.

Peu après cette séance de travail, Michel Martelly alias "Sweet Micky" s’est rendu à la tête d’une délégation à l’Autorité portuaire nationale (APN) chargée de la gestion de tous les ports du pays ouverts au commerce extérieur.

La victoire au second tour de Martelly, aux dépens de sa rivale démocrate-chrétienne, Mirlande Hyppolite Manigat, devrait se confirmer lors de la proclamation reportée à mercredi prochain (20 avril) des résultats définitifs des élections du 20 mars. spp/Radio Kiskeya

"Dear Compatriots,

I am here with you to this exceptional event, touched and proud, proud to be called to the service of this corner of land where I'm born, who cherished me beyond all my hopes and that I like passionately. Yes, Haitian people you believed in me and you have showered me with honor, me the bad boy (enfant terrible) by considering me worthy to represent and lead to good port what we have in common of most precious, Haiti. To all of you from the depths of my heart, thank you. To my partisans, my friends, my family my deep gratitude for having supported me, understood and respected, to those millions of young, backbone of my campaign, I repeat my immense affection and brotherly to Mrs. Mirlande Hyppolite Manigat and to those who recognized themselves in his project, I express my deepest respect, because beyond our differences and our divergences, we live the same dream, the same reasoning leads us, Haiti. Haiti more beautiful, Haiti more just, Haiti regenerated.

I will be the president of all Haitians without exclusions, together we will walk together for the flag to the Fatherland. Together we will dig with joy for a prosperous Haiti. Haitian, the big winners, remains : Haiti, the democracy and the public liberties. A Haiti to to rebuild, a democracy to strengthen. You have chosen to break with our old quarrels, our artificial divisions, the prevailing negativism. I also want that each of you, know that my presidency will be the guardian of institutions, but more importantly, I will ensure their smooth operation so that they assume their responsibilities and allow that my promises come true in terms of job creation, access to education, health and justice for all.

That those who suffer in their flesh and spirit, those that the injustice of Men or the vagaries of life have degraded and bruised, they must regain courage. The thing will change. Haiti - FLASH Elections : It's official, Michel Martelly won the second round

The preliminary results for the second round of the legislative and presidential elections of March 20, 2011 have just been unveiled by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). If the electoral calendar is not modified, the challenge period (contestations filed in accordance with the electoral law, by the candidates in the next 72 hours following the publication of results) will be held until April 15. It is necessary to wait 24/48 hours to get a confirmation from the CEP concerning the start and end date of the challenge period with the Departmental Electoral Challenges Office (BCED) and the National Electoral Challenges Office (BCEN). Any change in the calendar will shift the date of final results, originally scheduled for April 16, 2011.


We expect the reactions of the two presidential candidates.

Haïti - FLASH Élections : C’est officiel, Michel Martelly remporte le second tour

Les résultats préliminaires du second tour pour les élections présidentielles et législative du 20 mars 2011 viennent d'être dévoilé par le Conseil Électoral Provisoire (CEP). Si le calendrier électoral n’est pas modifié, la période de contentieux (contestations déposées, conformément à la loi électorale, par les candidats dans les 72 prochaines heures suivant la publication des résultats), se déroulera jusqu’au 15 avril. Il faudra attendre les 24/48 prochaines heures pour avoir une confirmation du CEP de la date de début et de fin de la période de contestation du Bureau de Contestation Électorale Départemental (BCED) et du Bureau de Contestation Électoral National (BCEN). Toute modification du calendrier décalera d’autant la date des résultats définitifs, initialement prévue pour le 16 avril 2011.

The Colombian Pop Star Shakira visited Haiti yesterday (March 31, 2011). The singer of the soccer world cup 2010 hit song "Waka Waka" made a donation of $400,000.00 US to rebuild a school "Elie Dubois" that was destroyed by the earthquake. She was welcomed by students at that all-girls school.
